The Graduate Interdisciplinary Specialization in Aging is available to all graduate and professional students at The Ohio State University. Students must apply to enroll in the Specialization in Aging, must follow the criteria developed by the Graduate School and the Coordinating Committee for the Graduate Interdisciplinary Specialization in Aging (see Program Description), and successfully complete the required and elective coursework specified during the application process.
The School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences coordinates the administrative aspects of the Specialization. It is wise to contact the School prior to beginning Specialization coursework to insure proper courses and credits are planned. Contact information for the Office is listed below. Students should also work with their departmental advisor to determine how best to incorporate the Specialization into their program of study. At least 14 hours of graduate coursework from the Master List of Courses is required.
GRADUATE STUDENT APPLICATION PROCESS
After meeting with Dr. Krok-Schoen and talking with your advisor about how you would best incorporate the Interdisciplinary Specialization in Aging into your program of study, you will submit your application at GRADFORMS.OSU.EDU. Once logged in at GRADFORMS.OSU.EDU, locate the section for "Minors & Interdisciplinary Specializations" and follow the button to "Create New Minors & Interdisciplinary Specializations Form." Your application will be electronically forwarded to the Office of Geriatrics and Interprofessional Aging Studies and Graduate Studies Committee for approval and you will be able to log back on to view the form once approval is completed.
NOTE: Students are expected to adhere to their planned curriculum for the Specialization in
Aging. However, circumstances often dictate that changes in the approved curriculum are made. In this case, students must
contact Dr. Krok-Schoen to initiate revisions to the originally approved application.
Once the coursework for the Interdisciplinary Specialization in Aging is completed, you must submit a Transcript Designation Request form in order for your transcript to indicate that you have completed the Interdisciplinary Specialization in Aging. This form is also found at the GRADFORMS.OSU.EDU site.
PROFESSIONAL STUDENT APPLICATION PROCESS (Dentistry, Law, Medicine, Optometry, Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine)
After meeting with Dr. Krok-Schoen and talking with your advisor about how you would best incorporate the Specialization in Aging into your program of study, professional students submit their applications by following the link below, completing the application, and returning it to Dr. Krok-Schoen for approval. Likewise, after completing the requirements for the Specialization in Aging, students should contact Dr. Krok-Schoen to initiate the Transcript Designation.
